Working with Tasks

Assigning People to Tasks

Summary: Four ways to assign a task: edit the task page, quick-edit in Outline, drag onto a person in the Team Panel, or drop onto their schedule in the Schedule Panel.

What it is

Assigning names who is expected to do the work. It is not the same as scheduling — assignment is responsibility; the calendar is commitment of time.

How to

You have at least four options:

  1. On the task page — Double-click the task to open its page. Select Edit, change Assignee, then Save.
  2. In the Outline view — Open the quick-edit menu (☰, hotkey Alt-Z, or right-click → Edit). Change Assignee, then Save.
  3. Drag to a person — In the Outline or List view, drag the task onto a user in the Team Panel.
  4. Drag to a schedule — Drop the task onto a person in the Schedule Panel. Runcible assigns the task, asks you to select a role, and creates an appointment.

Tip: Dragging onto the Schedule Panel is especially useful for traffic-style work — assignments made just in time.
